State gears up for I-Day; security intensified

With only two days left, Nagaland is gearing up to celebrate the 61st anniversary of India's Independence in a befitting manner on coming Friday, August 15. While every town receives face lifts, security has been tightened to pre-empt activities inimical to National Day and to guarantee an atmosphere of peace on the occasion.
In Kohima, the main Flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Nagaland Secretariat ground where Chief minister Neiphiu Rio will take the Salute and address the people of the state. Besides, a number of programmes have been chalked out to mark the day's celebration in the capital. Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries have been detailed to every District Head Quarters and Sub-Divisional Headquarters to hoist the National tri-colour on the occasion.
Meanwhile, in view of the Independents Day celebration security has been beefed up in and around Dimapur city with intensified frisking in different pockets of town. The Police in this regard has asked the public to cooperate even as it may cause inconvenience to them.
With regard to this Railway Police Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), Dimapur has also set up a joint control room. The OC GRPS, has informed the public to report numbers (03862) 2230645 and (03862) 226273 in case of any suspicion.
