DMC’s cleanliness drive underway

In showing solidarity with the DMC's move to beautify Dimapur city, the general public on Saturday responded to an appeal made by the DMC chairperson Khekaho Assumi and his councilors and conducted joint 'Cleanliness drive phase-I' in different pockets of the city.
Chairperson Khekaho, who was present at the spot with his councilors initiating the drive, expressed surprise over the enthusiastic positive response of the general public in creating Dimapur into one of the 'cleanest city.'
Adding that the cleanliness drive was first initiated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio himself asking the DMC to maintain and keep the main commercial hub of the state clean and hygienic, and also in regard to the DMC councilors decision to move 'Operation demolition' and 'Cleanliness drive' side by side, the mass social work started from Blue Hill line via Hotel Tragopan, Bata Charali, Dhobinala, PWD junction and Khermahal.
More than two hundred well-wishers from different organizations, NGOs, GB's & DB's, students from different schools and Bible Colleges who took part in the cleanliness drive latter culminated at the City Tower Junction wherein an informal programme was conducted.
DMC Chairperson and Councilors latter has thanked all the volunteers for rendering their service towards the betterment of the younger generation. The chairperson personally thanked reverend Xashepu, proprietor of New Life Bible College and added the second phase of the cleanliness drive will take place on Monday, wherein the Dimapur Youth Organization has also assured to join the noble cause under taken by the DMC.
