Cataract Op & IOL implantation camp

Cataract operation in progress during the camp.

A free cataract operation and IOL implantation camp was held at Dimapur District Hospital (DDH) from July 10 to 12.
Organized by the Nagaland State Blindness Control Society (NSBCS), and conducted by a team of eye surgeons led by Dr. Harsha Battacharjee from Shankar Deva Nethralaya assisted by eye surgeons from Nagaland, the camp was registered by more than hundred cataract patients but could successfully operate only 58 cases owing to the bandh called on July 11.
Dr. R. Jose, Additional Director General, from Directorate General of Health Services, New Delhi, also paid a visit during the camp as an observer and motivated the state eye surgeons.
Also accompanying her were Dr. V. Sekhose, Principal Director, Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, Limsong, Mission Director of NRHM and Dr. Taku Lemtor, Additional Mission Director, who also had interaction in regard to the NPCB programme.
Meanwhile, the programme officer, Dr. M.A Wati has expressed gratitude to all the central and state officials for their visits and supports during the camp, team doctors led by Shankar Deva Nethralaya, Guwahati for extending their expert services, Dr. R. Kikon, CMO, Dimapur, Dr. Sukhato, MS, DDH, all doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and well wishers for extending their cooperation and support during the cataract camp.
