5 bodies unearthed

Bodies of all five road construction workers who were buried alive Tuesday afternoon when a huge mass of earth fell on them on the outskirts of Akuk village, under Wokha district, were unearthed Wednesday. Official sources said the first body was unearthed around 6.10 a.m, while the last body was retrieved around 3 p.m. Two of the victims whose identity could not be ascertained yesterday, have been identified as Setu (20), the JCB operator and Pipul Gogoi (20), a labourer. The rescue and retrieve operation was jointly carried out by Nagaland Police team from Bhandari and Akuk villagers. Apart from the DC and SP Wokha and SDPO Bhandari, parliamentary secretary for Fire & Emergency Services Er. Wochumo Kithan and commissioner and secretary, Roads & Bridges, M Kithan, were also present during the operation.
