Expressing serious concern over the escalating violence and crime against women and children in recent months, the Nagaland State Women Commission (NSWC) has said that the time was very crucial for every right thinking Naga to contemplate as to how these evil strands could be removed from the society. NSWC chairperson, Sano Vamuzo in a statement said that so much violence and crime against women and children were brought to light recently and cited the ransacking of the Holy Redeemer Health Centre on July 31 where two sisters were harassed, the gruesome and brutal murder of a wife and mother of two children by her own husband on August 11 and the rape and murder of school girl of Carmel Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on August 17. The women commission felt that equality in society can be restored only when “we” realize to appreciate human life and respect women. The Commission said that it was always in touch with the administration and police wherever and whenever atrocities and crimes were committed in the state. It strongly reiterated that justice be done to its logical conclusion and exemplarily action given.
