NSCN-IM activist shot dead

One NSCN (I-M) activist identified as ‘2nd Lt’ Moatoshi was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Rail Bazaar road near a petrol pump, opposite Railway Station, Monday at around 2.30 p.m. According to police, the deceased who hailed from Mangmetong village and was residing at Island colony, was shot on the forehead after a hot chase by the assailants who came in a white Maruti car. Police recovered three empty cases of .32 (765) and two empty cases of AK Rifle from the spot. Police also recovered one pistol with three live rounds, full magazine, two mobile hand sets and Rs.13, 350 from the possession of the deceased. The body was later handed over to family members. Meanwhile, condoling the death of Moatoshi, the MIP/NSCN (I-M) in a press release said ‘2nd Lt’ Maotoshi Imchen was killed by the rival NSCN (K) while the later was on duty. “In his death the NSCN and the nation had lost a young and bright officer who stands to perform his duty in the face of the risk involved at the hands of the anti-social elements. The Naga nation is proud of the extreme sacrifice he had made, and shall be honored in the heart of every Naga who love the Naga nation,” the release added.
