Congress, NPF declare candidatures

Both the Congress and NPF candidates for the ensuing by-election to Ward-13 of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), declared their candidatures to the electorate on Monday. More the 300 people including Congress MLAs SI Jamir (Dimapur-II A/C) and Hewoto Awomi (Ghaspani-I A/C) and nine Congress members of DMC, attended the declaration programme of Congress candidate Wapang Walling held at Children's Park, PWD colony. Maintaining that Dimapur district had become a stronghold of the Congress party with five sitting legislators, Sungit and Hewoto in their speeches exhorted party workers to remain united to ensure victory of the party candidate in the by-polls. Wapang in his address expressed gratitude to the Party legislators, Congress members of DMC, GBs and chairmen of various colonies under Ward-13 and public for reposing faith in him and giving him a chance to represent the ward. Former DMC chairmen Tovihoto Ayemi and Vikheho Awomi, DCC president Roben Lotha, vicepresident DMCC Mrs. Asangla Imli and chairmen/GBs and leaders of all six colonies under Ward-13 also spoke on the occasion. Meanwhile, NPF candidate declaration programme of Yanger Imchen was attended by NPF central team, unit president and office bearers, NPF members of DMC including DMC chairperson and scores of supporters and well wishers. Speaking at the declaration programme party candidate, Yanger Imchen expressed gratitude to everyone responsible for letting him be the consensus candidate. He also urged the party members and well wishers to extend their support till the end. Asserting that NPF was in power all over, DMC chairperson, Khekaho Assümi earnestly called upon the residents to extend their support to ruling party and get benefited. Assümi further urging the residents of the ward to leave aside the party lines appealed them to elect the person who was from the ward and the one who could understand and feel the pulse of the ward. Others who spoke on the occasion included NPF Dimapur division president, Lepshi Ao; Ronthungo Ovung; Huska Sumi and Vikhie Zhimomi.
