‘Vera Wang is particular about what she wants’

Fashion expert Allison Hart tells Vidya Prabhu of DNA, that what outfit suits a person depends on ‘the personality, the season and the occasion’ As someone who has dabbled in fashion marketing, public relations, model management and celebrity relations, Allison Hart has indeed taken on many a role. But this representative of designer lingerie brand Secret Curves NY admits that nothing beats the high that she gets out of readying the models just before they take on the runway. “The excitement on the ramp is something that I just can’t miss; I absolutely love it,” she says. But her career highlights also include meeting the wardrobe needs of many stars. So the likes of Ashton Kutcher, Madonna, Guy Ritchie, Vera Wang, Carmen Electra and Hillary Duff are no strangers to her. “Well, what can I say? They have their own personality traits and like everyone else, they have their fair share of quirks and demands. It’s been a fantastic experience to work with them; in fact, many even gave me handwritten notes to say ‘thank you’,” she laughs, adding that she only realised the celebs’ human side when she worked with them. “You come to understand that they are not so intimidating in real life and that they are just doing their job,” she explains. But she does admit that celebs can get very fussy as well. Renowned international designer Vera Wang, for one, belongs to the category. But she is quick to say, “Vera (Wang) may come across as someone who is very particular about what she wants but she is very loyal as well.” And who did she enjoy working for the most? “I absolutely enjoyed working with Ashton Kutcher. He’s very flexible and gracious; not to mention the fact that he’s very open to suggestions and opinions,” she notes. Ask her how she determines what suits a person and what doesn’t she says, “I think it varies depending on the personality, the season and the occasion.” Finally, given that she’s visiting India for the first time, what does she have to say? “I love the country; the people here seem to know what they want and that’s a good sign. In fact, India as a country is not just a booming economy but also one that is becoming increasingly aware about fashion. This is why it made perfect sense for our designer lingerie brand to enter the Indian market as we feel the time is right,” she ends.
