Following the reported positive response given by the University authority towards fulfillment of the demands of Nagaland University Non-Teaching Staff Association (NUNTSA), the association has temporarily suspended its pen-down strike with effect from Friday. NUNTSA president Medo Chirah and general secretary Lanuzulu in a letter addressed to vice chancellor, NU, informed that the association in its general body meeting held Friday discussed at length the response given by the University authority towards fulfillment of NUNTSA’s demands and unanimously resolved to suspend its agitation, in order to facilitate total fulfillment of the association’s demands. The association however cautioned that it would resort to its own course of action if the demands were not fulfilled as assured, and in the event of any or all members of the association being victimized in connection with the agitation. Meanwhile, the vice chancellor and officials of University have thanked NUNTSA for agreeing to resume work with immediate effect. Registrar, NU, Thejao Vihienuo in a press release said the vice chancellor and officials acknowledged with respect the magnanimity of mind and the commitment for interest of the University shown by each member of NUNTSA in all the three campuses. “We look forward to the support of each and everyone in our effort to make the University discharge its responsibility to the students and society,” the release added.
