Observing the continued violence and social unrest in the Naga society where all sorts of “incidences” passes off as another “dark scar in our history” after brief period of shouts of condemnations, the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has said all such happenings were not strange at all when the only highest seat of learning in the state, the Nagaland University, have been setting examples of the lowest order. “In the process, the hopeful minds of thousands of students have been reduced to nothing, including their parents, who dreamt dreams for their children” said the NMA in a joint press release issued by it president, Khesheli Chishi and joint secretary, Lochumbeni humtsoe. Reiterating its concerns over the impasse in the NU, the NMA has asked the University authorities not to further “barter away” the future of the children as enough damage was already been done. It also demanded that the suspension order issued against two teachers be immediately revoked and the report of the Fact Finding Committee instituted by the MHRD as instructed by the President of India be immediately submitted for further necessary action against charges and counter-charges.
