Seven selected from Kma for Idol combat

Seven young aspiring 'Idol' singers were selected into the "Naga Idol 3.08" Wednesday here at Hotel Japfü during the Naga Idol 3.08 Kohima audition. Altogether eleven 'idol' aspirants contested, whereby the chosen seven were unanimously selected by the three judges and ace Naga musicians, Achen Longchari, Nise Meruno and Theja Meru. The selected seven from Kohima district included Angulie Nagi, Kumtenzukba Jamir, Dzevilenuo Solo, R. Senkathung Kikon, Keneilezonuo Chale, Toshinaro Imchen, Hüto Chüzho. Coordinator of Xtratainment Unlimited (XU), Allen Mark, commented that Naga Idol was about helping, identifying and promoting musical talents in young Nagas. He added that the show had served as a way of sharpening the skills of the crew. He asserted that it was time the Nagas worked together to move up to the standards of others. The day was graced with the presence of reigning Naga Idol, Rokovotuo as the guest of honour. With the show getting bigger and better, the winner for this year's Naga Idol 3.08 will "drive" away with a brand new car and a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh. The 1st runners up will also get Rs. 1 lakh and the remaining 4 finalists will get cash prize of Rs. 25,000 each. The third and last audition will be held on September 19 at Longkumer Kilem, Mokokchung. All the selected candidates would then move on to the Sreening Round where 18 contestants would be selected for the 1st Pre Finals. The screening round will be held at Mokokchung on September 20. The show is being organized by XU, under the aegis of MDACC. The Kohima audition was co-managed by Orange Events, as the district partner.
