1 held for impersonation

Dimapur police arrested one person for possession of a counterfeit pension pass book from which he was drawing pension of another person from State Bank of India (SBI). According to police, the accused identified as one Khekavi Chishi (29) who was arrested on August 26 last in Dimapur, had been impersonating and withdrawing money from the account of one Khumkuim Yimchunger for the past four years. Police also seized three bank pass books bearing the name of Khumkuim. Police on verification discovered that the pass book originated from South Treasury Office, Kohima, and was transferred to Dimapur Treasury Office on April 10 2002, which was again transferred to SBI main branch, Dimapur, on August 11 2006. Police said it had approached the SBI main branch to bring back the entire pension papers which were sent to Central Pension Processing Center, zonal office at Guwahati, for thorough investigation. Police said they would also thoroughly examine the applications and documents pertaining to the pensioner. As per Khekavi’s statement, he procured the pass book after he paid Rs. 10,000 to Khumkuim.
