Yimchungru Students Union Tuensang Town (YSUTT) has strongly condemned the incident wherein one young person was beaten to death by eight people on September 10 for having stealing a mobile phone. A joint release issued by K. Thsanshimong president and Khangba general secretary, YSUTT has expressed regret over the 'unfortunate' incident for acting 'barbarically' in a civilized society instead of handing over the accused to the concern customary law or the law enforcement agency. The union further pointed out as per the police record, out of the eight involved in the murder, only six are under police custody and the other two identified as Chollen and Chetei have not been arrested nor surrendered. In this regard, the union has urged the duo to surrender to the administrative authority or any tribal organization to assure 'right justice and better living' in the future. The union also urged the concerned authority to justify at the earliest for better understanding among the families and public in general.
