Unidentified gunmen fired at the residence of one NSCN (I-M) functionary at Duncan Basti, Dimapur, Saturday around 11 a.m. According to the wife of Daniel Lotha, a joint secretary (Chaplee) in the NSCN (I-M), some armed gunmen came in a Gypsy and a van and sprayed bullets at their residence when she and her children were in the kitchen. Daniel reportedly escaped from the house. Later, police recovered eight empty cases of AK-47, three of 7.65 and one empty case from the spot. Meanwhile, the MIP/NSCN (I-M) in a press release stated that while members of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation were having a serious meeting at Hebron discussing the issue of reconciliation and unity, the “Khaplang group” was busy in Dimapur town attacking NSCN members including Daniel. “Though this unruly behavior of the group is nothing unusual, such incident will never be condone with, as this is an open signal for confrontation with NSCN,” the release stated.
