Based of information about presence of underground cadres, a combined force of Sikh Regiment, Assam Rifles, IRB, Police and district administration conducted raids at Thahekhu village and Lhomithi colony Saturday around 7.30 a.m. However, no arrest was made or arms recovered during the raids. Official sources believed that the activists fled the area before the security forces and administration officials arrived. When contacted SP Dimapur Liremo Lotha told Nagaland Post that the raids were conducted based on inputs about presence of armed elements. “But when we asked GBs and village elders of the area, they expressed ignorance about presence of any underground activists,” he added. Asked if similar raids would be conducted in other areas and colonies, the SP said it would depend on information that police and administration receive. (Staff Reporter)
