Habitual bike-lifter arrested

Dimapur police in a follow-up move to a complaint lodged September 3 with regard to bike theft on the night of September 2 at valley view colony, Full Nagarjan, apprehend one habitual bike-lifter with the assistance of Thahekhu village council on Friday. The accused identified as one Kamal Sangma (22), son of Bopen Sangma presently residing at Thahekhu Block-7 was arrested along with the same bike that was lost September 2. The bike (Hero Honda/Red) bearing registration number NL-07/E 7091 is presently with east police station. According to police the accused confessed that he has so far stolen eight bikes - including the recovered bike - from different pockets of town within a couple of month. Chronology of crime: Two Discover bikes (Silver and Black colour) was stolen two months back from ADC court area, near CRPF camp. One LML scooter (silver) was picked from Nepali Basti last month. One Yamaha RX (Red) was lifted near Rangapahar railway Crossing, Bazar area last month. One RX hundred (red) which was picked from 4th mile auto parking area from the veranda first week of this month. One Hero Honda (Red) was lifted from Circuit house two weeks back One Discover (Sky blue), picked from Dhansari village last week. Police on interrogation could bring two things into lime light; firstly the modus operandi of committing crime by the accused was all committed in the wee hours. Secondly most of the bikes were picked up from the residence. According to police four accomplices were still absconding while strategy to nab the remaining has been intensified. Police said accused has been remanded to its custody for five more days for further investigation.
