Reacting to the NPCC press statement, which demanded BJP Nagaland unit to apologize for the continuous atrocities against the Christian minorities by the “saffron brigade” in the states of Orissa and Karnataka, the State BJP has said the Congress allegation and demand was “more of a quandary (as referred to the ground realities of the unrests) than carries any substantive measure to help normalize the situation.” State BJP vice president and spokesman TL Merry and spokesman Basu Damani in a joint press statement said BJP Nagaland was in no way supportive of the perpetrators of atrocities on Christian minorities and had, through every available communication systems, impelled the party national leaders and states concerned to redress the situation immediately. “It is every individual’s or organization’s noble responsibility to solicit involvement in the mission to create an atmosphere, conducive for harmonious coexistence of the conflicting communities,” the release said. The State BJP also said that it was committed to work towards building up a social and political order based on justice, peace and harmony. “On the recent outbreak of atrocities perpetrated on the Christian minorities of Karnataka and Orisa, the state BJP has put up the best possible efforts aimed at restoring normalcy in the affected states, voiced its resentment and has repeatedly condemned the atrocities on the Christian minorities as well; not for accolades or sheer political gains, but with the will to uphold and promote values and rights of the human person and family, irrespective of Caste, race or religion,” the release added.
