EDHSS wins choral competition

The 2nd Inter School choral competition on the theme 'love - the chord of unity' was held Thursday at Town Hall Mokokchung. Delivering her address, SDO (C) Nungsangmenla Imchen who graced the occasion as chief guest said holding such competitions provided a platform to the youths. She expressed hope that through such events, youths would be immensely benefited. Calling upon the youths to play an important role through the medium of music, she said music being a universal language should be used to spread the message of love and brotherhood. Participants sang 'my heart will go on' from the original soundtrack 'Titanic' and re-arranged by Lipokmar Tzudir, Director of CCFPAM. Defending champion Edith Douglas HSS retained their title this year again as they emerged as the winner while Queen Mary HSS and Clark Memorial HSS bagged the second and third position respectively. The winners were awarded cash prize of Rs, 5000, Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Also trophies and certificates were also awarded to the winners, besides consolation prizes of Rs. 500 each and certificates to all the participating schools. The prize money was sponsored by Toshimanen, Senior Town Planner. Participated by students of Clark Memorial Higher Secondary School, Govt. High School Sungratsu, Govt. Middle School Teachers Colony, Nagaland Christian Residential School, Queen Mary HSS, Edith Douglas HSS and Children School, the competition was organised by Chancel Choir Foundation for Performing Arts (CCFPAM).
