Irked by BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani’s remarks against Manmohan Singh as the “most incompetent” prime minister, NPCC has termed the comment as “nothing but figment of imagination”. Advani made the comment during his speech in Guwahati on Sunday adding that Singh had “devalued” his office as no decision was taken without the consent of Congress president, Sonia Gandhi. NPCC president, K V Pusa in a statement said the remarks against Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi in Guwahati was made with the sole objective to smear the good image of the two leaders whose performances were beyond questionable. “The remark of L K Advani stating that Prime Minster Manmohan Singh is incompetent is totally wrong and false” Pusa rebutted. He described Singh as the “unsurpassed and strongest” prime minister the country has ever produced and that the charges of communal party like BJP was nothing but a case of venting their frustration to mislead the innocent people to their advantage as polls are nearing. The NPCC president observed that besides giving a boost to the country’s economy under the dynamic leadership of Singh, several reforms have also been made for the benefit of the common people. He attributed India’s international stand today to the farsightedness of prime minister, Singh. Pusa said the country has progressed considerably under the guidance of Sonia Gandhi and expressed hope that it would not go wrong while serving the people. He said any decision of the Congress and the UPA government was a collective decision unlike the BJP which was autocratic in functioning. Asserting that decisions were being taken for the larger interest of the people, Pusa rubbished Advani’s accusations as mere speculation that held no water. The NPCC president also urged the people to remain united to fight communal force like the BJP which was hell-bent on destroying the secular fabric of India.
