Naga Council Dimapur in response to the call for reconciliation by Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has extended its full support to the objectives of FNR for reconciliation and peace among all Nagas including warring factions as resolved in its meeting at Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church on September 25.
Stating that reconciliation among Nagas in today's context is seen as a 'Herculean task' given the fact that the half-a-century old political struggle has run into 'a plethora of complex issues', the council in a joint release signed by Savi Liegise, president and Lemba Chang general secretary said, "it is a great encouragement" to the peace-loving Nagas to see the efforts of the FNR led by Rev. Dr. Wati Aier, renowned Naga theologian and peace activist.
While congratulating Dr Wati and his team for the successful conduct of Chiang Mai I, II and III in cooperation with Quaker friends, leading to the meeting on September 25, the council said "the journey of common hope has just begun" and urged all fellow Nagas not to 'abandon' the journey till the desired destination is attained.
Meanwhile, the council has also urged all car owners and homes throughout Nagas Land to carry the white flag on their cars and post the white flags on their homes as directed by the FNR symbolizing our desire for peace and the process of reconciliation. In this regard, Naga Council has requested all tribal Councilors to come and collect their white flags from the office in demonstration of the solidarity with the call for peace and reconciliation.
