Department of Power has informed that due to flood in Assam, the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) had undertaken emergency shutdown of main 400 KV transmission lines, resulting in total shutdown of 405 MW Ranganadi hydro electric project from which Nagaland gets its major share of power. Chief engineer, Department of Power, in a press release informed that the department had to resort to massive load shedding throughout the State since the present availability of power to the State was about 30 MW during off peak hours and 36 MW during peak hours as against the requirement of 45 MW and 90 MW during off peak and peak hours respectively.
