Mkg rejects reservation bill

Sixteen Wards of Mokokchung town, the four landowners of Ungma, Khensa, Chuchuyimpang and Mokokchung villages, Mokokchung Town Ao Union and presidents of the six Ao Ranges have reiterated the resolution to reject the 33% Women’s Reservation Bill. This was resolved during a joint meeting on September 1, informed a press release issued by Temjenkaba of Mangmetong village, Kumlong Ward, Mokokchung. Temjenkaba, who is also the president of Ao Senden in a separate release, said that he had, on behalf of Ao Senden issued press statements which were against the resolution adopted by Ao community on the issue of 33% Women’s Reservation. He admitted that he had acted against the Ao customary ethics by denouncing the resolutions adopted by Ao community. This admittance, he said was done in the presence of Ungma Village Council, Mokokchung Village Council, Chuchuyimpang Village Council and Khensa Village Council, chairmen of 16 Wards of Mokokchung, presidents of the six Ao Ranges and Mokokchung Town Ao Union on Monday at Yupanglangjen Ki Khensa Village.
