State has 667 cases pending in courts

Nagaland state has 667 pending cases in Supreme Court and High Court, informed Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice Shri Yitachu. In reply to the question raised by former chief minister, K L Chishi, the Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice said there are total 669 cases pending in the court, out of which service matters has one in Supreme Court and 388 in High Court, Land and Property matters-50 in High Court, Financial transactions-5 High Courts, Miscellaneous cases-1 Supreme Court and 152 High Court and Public Interest Litigation-60 SC and 12 HC. Minister for Urban Development, Dr. Shurhozelie in response to MLA Chuba said that under Kohima Municipal Council, 63 regular employees and 82 people on fixed pay were employed. He also clarified that some members of KMC are nominated on the basis of special knowledge or experiences as per section 9 (4) of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2001. In reply to another query by MLA, Deo Nukhu, Dr. Shurhozelie said that the Urban Development Department have implemented schemes under CSS where 10% lump sum is under provision for NE states including Sikkim and a total of Rs. 873.35 lakhs have been received during 2007-08. Under JNNURM scheme Rs. 2931 lakhs was sanctioned to the state and at present, works are going on at Kohima, he stated. To another query by MLA, H. Chuba the Chief Minister said that there are 12 VGs post under 51 Noksen A/C. Due to exigencies of the situation Assistant Commandant of VG Noksen, Sub-Division have been temporarily attached to Meluri Sub-Division.
