Protests against militants violent acts in Manipur

Protests against militants killing and attacking the houses of the individuals were witnessed at various places in Manipur, Thursday. In the meantime, a prominent school private mission school in Imphal was shut down from today with a reported threat from a militant group for not meeting their monetary demand served to the school authority. The Bon Bosco High School, Shangakpham Imphal remained closed from Thursday owing to the unbearable huge monetary demanded by a militant group operating in the state. The amount of money served to the school could not be immediately confirmed as school authority was not available for comment regarding the closure of the school. Villagers of Naharup Pangong in Imphal east also staged a sit-in protest today against militants act of killing people in their village was evacuating from other places. unidentified militants shot dead three persons at Naharup Pangong village near a suspension bridge on the Iril river, East Imphal district last night at around 6.30 pm. According to the villagers, the unidentified militants brought the three persons and shot them dead. Decrying a shooting incident, the villagers have staged a sit-in protest at the village today. During the protest, slogans denouncing causing panic to the villagers, and condemning turning their village into killing field were displayed. Another sit-in protest was also staged at Keishamthong Hoadam Leirak in Imphal in protest against the firing of guns at the house and repeated threats to an official of the state agriculture department. It was also reported that the house of an assistant agriculture officer, Meisnam Norendro at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak was under gun fire last night at around 9 pm by suspected militants. The officer was in the news recently after he was kidnapped by a militant group on ransom demand from the agriculture department. There were no reports of any casualties in both the incidents but it had cause panic to the family as well as to the neighbourhood. Slogans decrying repeated threat to the life of the AAO and causing panic to the people in the area were displayed.
