State chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday claimed that the six-month of DAN government led by NPF is running smoothly. Addressing the NPF's Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting at the Central office building Kohima, the state Chief Minister, who is also from the NPF party said "we are running the government as a coalition with the positive support and cooperation of our partners - the BJP, NCP and Independent MLAs" and reminded that NPF as the "major partner" of the coalition, must ensure that "we lead by example and take all necessary measures to ensure unity and understanding of the coalition is not compromised at any stage." Rio also said that accelerated progress and infrastructure development can only take place under an environment of political stability and stated that "despite the best efforts of our adversaries, as long as we have perfect understanding and unity within the family, no external force can dislodge our position". Stating the NPF led DAN is in the second term in office, the chief minister said that it is appropriate that the coalition recollect the circumstances which undergone in the past years by the government. "The regional party with cock symbol was reorganized under the banner of the Nagaland People's Front under the fatherly figure and dynamic leadership of late Vizol. Under his stewardship, the party went to the people in the 2003 assembly elections and along with coalition partners formed the government in 2003" Rio recalled and said that the party leadership was then taken over by the seasoned and most competent leader Dr. Shurhozelie. "Under his guidance we have made significant progress and the party has further strengthened itself. It was under our seasoned president's leadership that we contested the assembly polls in March 2008" he told the CEC meeting. Rio said that "We could return to power with the support of our alliance partners and Independence", adding "the result of the elections was a victory for the party in the people's court under the firm and able leadership of Dr. Shurhozelie" He also took the opportunity to congratulate him (Dr. Shurhozelie) and all the senior and capable office bearers of the party for our party's achievements and the inspirational leadership of the president. The chief minister also claimed during the recent second session of the present Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the treasury bench has performed and carried out their responsibilities in commendable manner. "The cohesion and understanding within the treasury bench was evident for all to see and it goes to show that the Government is on the right track", he added and pointed out that "We have a number of new faces in the Government but I am happy to note that all the ministers, parliamentary secretaries and MLAs are learning fast and making their best efforts towards the goal of delivering the goods to the people".
