Dimapur Kyong Students' Union (DYSU) combined freshers' -cum- parting social meet that was held at Lotha Hoho Ki, Saturday. The occasion was held on the theme, 'vision of goal' with commissioner and secretary, sericulture, Kohima, Achum Ngully (IAS) and SDO (agri) Tizit, Renphamo Kikon as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Around 600 Lotha (Kyong) students studying in various colleges in Dimapur beautifully dressed in their colorful attire turned out at the programme. In his speech Ngully said the reason behind the disunity among fellow friends in the society was due to family disorganization. "For unity we have to go to the roots," Ngully said while highlighting the need for preservation of culture and tradition among the community. He attributed the lack of contribution to the organization by the communities as the reason behind disunity in the society. Calling for the changes in the society he asked the students whether they carried their responsibilities entrusted by the society. "The changes have to be made by you if the elders have failed you," Ngully pointed out and urged the students to reconstruct the society which is "deteriorating day by day". Turning his attention towards the today's scenario where technologies have paved in, he appealed the students to pursue their studies seriously. "To acquire degree is easy but the real test begins when you hunt for profession," he said. Also speaking on the theme, the guest of speaker Renphamo Kikon highlighted on the strategies and objective to the students to achieve their goal. Lotha Hoho, chairman Y. Kikon, president of Lotha Eloe Ekhung Dimapur, Abeni and director Sunday school DLBC exhorted the gathering. Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by president DKSU followed by welcome song by Eastern Bible College, folk song by Senjum Youth while the invocation was said by M. John Humtsoe, Catechist. The afternoon session was marked with seminar on career counseling and insurance industry.
