SACH project

Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) project, a voluntary organization and an initiative of the Apollo Hospitals Chennai was established in 2003 with the objective of providing surgical treatment to economically deprived children with congenital and other forms of pediatric heart diseases. According to a SACH press statement, eight out of every 1000 infants are born with some kind of congenital cardiac disorder, which if not treated turn fatal. It said that over 30, 000 children in India have been screened so far and had performed life-saving surgeries on 1000 underprivileged children. It has also conducted camps all over India to identify children needing such treatment. The SACH team includes highly qualified and well-trained doctors and paramedical staff from Apollo Hospitals. It said the project is being supported by a team including Dr. Jayanthi, consultant cardiologist and Dr. Nevil Solomon, pediatric cardio thoracic Surgeon, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.
