Pineapple plantation inaugurated at Mhainamtsi

Pineapple plantation developed under IWDP project of the department of land resources development at Mhianamtsi village was inaugurated by parliamentary secretary for Horiticulture, R. Khing on October 10. Minister, T. R. Zeliang also inaugurated ME School up gradation and school building extension under SSA. Officials from the department led by the Secretary LRD, Norman Putsure IAS attended the programme which was jointly organized by Village council, Watershed Committee and Village Education Committee The officials inspected the project site around pineapple plantation, tree plantation, soil conservation works, link roads etc. The Minister and the Parliamentary Secretary addressed a mammoth gathering at Mhianamtsi Government ME School. Parliamentary Secretary, R. Khing while addressing gathering at Mhianamtsi Government ME School exhorted the people on potentiality of horticulture crops and urged the people to work hard to make Peren district a model district in economic upliftment through various horticultural enterprises. Minister, T. R Zeliang the villagers to work hard to bring financial well-being in the village for better future .Secretary to the government of Nagaland, department of land resources development, Norman Putsure IAS assured the villagers of all possible assistance from the Government side and encouraged them to come out as exemplary village in watersheds development to rest of Naga people. Director of the department of land resources development, Neise Mech urged the farmers to give full cooperation to the department and called upon them to come forward in developmental activities with positive approach. Moa Longkumer who was instrumental in motivating and mobilizing the people of Peren district from the initial time of IWDP project also spoke on the occasion. Out of the 7 Self Help Groups sponsored by LRD of Mhianamtsi Village, 6 groups had set up exhibition cum sale of weaving products and horticultural produces at the venue.
