NSF Martyrs Memorial trophy: 8 teams in last eight

Eight teams -Nagaland Police, Life Sports Dimori Cove, New Market XI, Tribal Spirit , Excel United Kohima, Anal Students Union Manipur, Merhulietsa FC and Kingdom Stewards, Jalukie town have entered into quarter-final at the ongoing 9th NSF Martyrs Memorial trophy organized by the Angami Students Union (ASU). On Thursday, in the first match Anal Students Union (ASU) drubbed Botsa YSA 3-0. ASU scored through Larsingam (1st goal) in the 12th minute, Longam (2nd goal) in the 21st minute and Mothawat (3rd goal) in the 60th minute. In the second match – Kingdom Stewards, Jalukie defeated Bor-Lengri YC, Assam 3-1 vie tie- breaker. Earlier both ended in 1- 1 draw. Bor Lengri YC led 1-0 till first half, the goal was scored by Abenthung in the 10th minute, while Kingdom Stewards restored the parity in the 38th minute from Ereu Zelaing ‘s spot kick conversion to level -1-1. In the tie break, Kingdom Stewards, scored through Keyigung Wangbe, Ayi and Ereu Zeliang , while the lone score for Bor Lengri YC was Chuba. Kingdom Stewards goal keeper Peisudibe brought in two spectacular saves in the penalty shoot-out. Meanwhile, there will be an exhibition matches on the following days. October 18 at 3.00 pm, ASU Organizing committee clash with Kohima District Veteran Football Association (KDVFA). October 20 at 3.00 pm, ASU Organizing committee will play with Naga Students Federation (NSF). October 21 at 12.00 noon, All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) CSU will take on Dimpaur Naga Students Union (DNSU) and on October 22 at 12 noon, ASU Organizing committee will lock horns with Kohima District Football Referee Association (KDFRA). October 17 (2.00 pm) Nagaland Police Vs Life Sports Dimori Cove NVFA formed To promote and encourage the youth in the game of football, the veterans have formed the ‘Nagaland Veteran Footballers Association’ (NVFA) with K. Kire (IPS – ADGP) as president. Phek, Wokha and Kohima have already formed their Associations. The Kohima District Veteran Footballers Association was formed with Dr. Nicky Kire (MLA) as president, Engineer Tali Aier (S.E.) as general secretary and Er. Akho Zutso (E.E.) as treasurer.
