Anal SU through to NSF Martyrs’ semis

Anal Students Union (ASU) on Monday overcame Excel United, Kohima 2-1, in the third quarter final match in the ongoing 9th NSF Martyrs Memorial trophy organized by the Angami Students Union (ASU). Anal Students Union (ASU) will now clash with Nagaland Police in the first semi-final on October 22. Earlier, ASU took the lead in the 2nd minute, with a poor defending from Michael of Excel United, who headed into their own net while trying to prevent Sheltun Mothwar shot. The much needed equalizer for Excel United was rewarded in the dying moments of the first half when Velukho Rhakho pass was brilliantly converted by Mhasiemhalie Mathew Yhome with a header. The score line was leveled 1-1, till the lemon break. Coming after the lemon break when the match seemed to be heading for an extra time it was Mothwar again beating the inexperience keeper, Vekuto with a header to secured his team semifinals berth in the 89th minute. Six yellow cards were awarded in the match – Sinruwng and Thongsing Warkam (Both Anal Students Union) and Sheyi, Benri, Velukho and Kezvituo (all Excel United) KMC deputy chairperson Khriehu Liezietsu was the match patron also donated Rs. 10,000 to the organizers. The man of the match was adjudged to Kethozhapu (Excel United). Meanwhile, ASU Organizing committee defeated Naga Students Federation (NSF) 2-0 in an exhibition match. Both the goals were scored by Megosier in the 45th and 55th minutes. October 21 (Tuesday) (4th quarter-finals) Merhulietsa FC vs Kingdom Stewards.
