Meghalaya Director General of Police B. K. Dey Sawian today called on the state police personnel to rededicate their services for the cause of the State and country. Speaking at the Police Commemoration Day parade at Police Reserve here, Sawian asked the police force to emulate the example set by their colleagues who died on duty. Senior police officials attended the programme. They paid tribute to policemen who laid down their lives on duty. A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect. The Commemoration Day was observed to remember the police personnel all over the country who died in 1998-99 while carrying out operations against insurgents, due to ambushes by terrorists, while defending the border, during riots, anti-criminal activities and other duties.
