Chekrovolu receives 10th Classic Award

Ace Naga archer Ms. Chekrovolu Swuro, 26 years, received the 10th Classic Award on Thursday, which is also the 14th foundation day of Classic Club, Kohima. The Classic Award, which carries a cash of Rs.10, 000 and citation was formally over to Chekrovolu on Thursday at Hotel Japfu, Kohima by minister for education and SCERT Nyeiwang Konyak. In his address, the Minister applauded the recipient Chekrovolu for her contribution in the field of Archery and bringing laurel and glory to the Nagas. Expressing happiness over the good works of the Classic Club during the last 14 years, Nyeiwang said the Classis Club was founded by a group of like minded person irrespective of case and creed for united community interest, adding the Club mainly focus on the development of games and sports specially among the young generation and promoting the social awareness in the society as a whole. In his presidential address, K. Neibou Sekhose, president Classic Club gave a brief history of the Club and informed that the Club was formed on October 2 , 1994 and completing 14 years today. He disclosed that Ms. Chekrovolu Swuro was the 10th Classic Award, which was constituted in 1998. In her acceptance speech Ms. Chekrovolu Swuro thanked Classic club for giving her the Classic award. It may mention that Ms. Swuro was born in 1982, hailed from Dziilha Village, Phek district is daughter of Vepoyi Swuro. She had won many medals at the national and international level in archery competition and award the Classic award for her outstanding achievements in the field of Archery. Earlier Rev. Moa Longchari , Pastor , BMC, Kohima gave the invocation prayer, special number by Ms. Asenuo Metha,, while the function was be compere by Ms. Visetono Natso.
