Along with the rest of the world, the Muslim community in Nagaland also observed Eid-ul-Fitr. In Dimapur, more than 6,000 thousand of Muslims gathered here at Iddgah ground Thursday around 7.30 a.m to offer ‘namaz’ (mass prayers) on the occasion of Eid. The Muslim community in Kohima celebrated Eid at 26 Assam Rifles ground. Members of the Muslim community also exchanged greetings and offered sweets to neighbours and friends from other communities. Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) working president A Rehman extended gratitude to all community members, including those from the neighbouring state of Assam and Army personnel, for attending the mass prayers. Rehman said Eid was a festival of sweets as also a celebration of peace and unity. Greeting all the people of Nagaland on the occasion, MCD also hoped that peace would prevail among Muslim community in particular and the State in general. Meanwhile, MCD thanked the district administration, police and traffic personnel for ensuring smooth and peaceful celebration of Eid in Dimapur.
