The State Congress has reminded the DAN Government that it was the bounden duty of the State government to provide security to its citizens and to bring to book all those who violate the laws. Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president KV Pusa, MLA, in a press release said the repeated demands of the Congress party to the State government to enforce law of the land, had fallen on deaf ears as violence and fratricidal killings continued unabated, thereby endangering the lives and property of the people. NPCC felt that the continued violence and loss of lives was mainly due to DAN government’s contention that factional clashes vis-à-vis ongoing violence in the State was a political problem. “Inflicting casualties on innocent civilians and committing violence cannot be termed as ‘political problem’ and therefore the Congress party once again asks the State government to perform its bounden duty and secure people from current wave of violence,” NPCC said. The Congress party also urged Naga national groups to shun all forms of violence and desist from fratricidal killings, as per the common wishes of Naga people. “Peace is what Naga people are longing for and that fratricidal killing is not Nagas’ way of life as this is alien to our culture,” NPCC added.
