Bharti among Forbes’ fabulous 50

Ten Indian companies led by the likes of state-run Bharat heavy Electricals (Bhel), telecom major Bharti Airtel and Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries have made their way into the Forbes' list of 50 best listed companies in the Asia-pacific region. The 'Asian Fabulous 50' ranking is topped by Taiwan-based computer maker Acer, while Bhel and Bharti Airtel are the top-ranked Indian companies at the overall fifth and sixth spots. According to a press note by Airtel PR Coordinator, on Bharti Airtel, the Forbes magazine said, "As many as ten million new subscribers sign up every month for wireless access in India. One in four sign up with Airtel, not only to make calls but also to access the web, download cricket scores and send billions of text messages." Airtel recruits talent with global experience Airtel, India's largest telecom operator is aggressively hiring talent with global experience in the wake of a top-level churn in the Company. Airtel Chief Financial Officer Mr Sarvjit Dhillon is moving on to a bigger role within the group while Chief Technology Officer Don Price is on his way out. The Company is likely to rope in Mr. B. Srikanth from Unilever UK as the new CFO. Airtel CEO and Joint Managing Director Mr. Manoj Kohli said recently that the Company was planning to induct international talent in the next 6-12 months. "Our goal is to have over 125 million subscribers by 2010. With global talent, we can handle a bigger scale than what we are doing at present," said Mr. Kohli. Bharat Matrimony services on Airtel BharatMatrimony.com, a leading matrimonial portal with over 12 million registered members, has announced the launch of its services on Airtel's live WAP portal. Airtel subscribers can access the matrimony services with GPRs enabled handsets across the country.
