Kiyanilie exhorts Poumai students

Nagaland Legislative Assembly speaker, Kiyanilie Peseyie on Thursday called upon Poumai students to equip themselves with quality education, knowledge and discipline as future leaders to shape a better future. He asked them to safeguard their cultural traditions and values in a greater magnitude. Addressing the silver jubilee celebration of Poumai Tsüdoumai Me (Poumai Students' Union) at Ura Academy hall, Kiyanilie Peseyie said that students play a crucial role in building a healthy atmosphere in the society. He asked them to make an attempt to revive dedicated spirit in them and build a disciplined students' community. The chief guest further said that unemployment issue was mainly due to lack of quality education and asked the students to gain good knowledge as to respond to the challenges before them. President of Naga Students' Federation, Imchatoba Imchen, who was the guest of honour, said that 25 years celebration was a time to retrospect, reminisce, reconcile and set goals for the days ahead. Stating that there are about 50,000 educated unemployed in the state, Imchen commented "we do not have a requisite professionalism." He encouraged the students to explore new ventures of profession and rediscover their talents rather then stay stagnant. "It is high time we changed our attitude, action and professionalism", he added. He further challenged the youngsters to work for reconciliation and unity of the society as their duty. Delivering the presidential address, PTMK president Shem Shpunü Koh called upon the members to uphold integrity and unity and preserve their identity in the fast changing world. He asked them to be consistent in their field of works and acquire quality oriented knowledge. Lauding the pioneers of the union, the president urged the members to carry the spirit of the founders forward so as to make the union strong, vibrant and dynamic. The jubilee celebration was also marked by songs and cultural presentations. A silver jubilee souvenir was released.
