1 killed in mishap

One person was killed while three others were injured when the Maruti van (NL-02-2911) they were traveling in met with an accident near Botsa junction on NH-61, some 40 kms from Kohima, Friday around 3.30 p.m. According to sources, the van carrying four occupants including the driver was coming from Tuensang enroute to Kohima when it skidded and plunged some 200 feet below the road. The cause of the mishap was reportedly due to slippery road and bad weather condition The victim who died on the spot was identified as Chuba Chang, ‘C’ khel council chairman of Tuensang village. Of the three injured, Jejing Chang, block chairman from Nangmong village, who sustained serious injuries was rushed to Naga Hospital Kohima. The two others Takam Chang, owner of the Van and VDB secretary of Haak Village and Chingmang Chang, VDB secretary of Chingmilien village, were released after receiving first aid treatment at PHC Botsa. The four were reportedly on their way to Kohima to attend a VDB meeting scheduled next week. Meanwhile, it was learnt that family members of late Chuba Chang were on their way to PHC Botsa to collect the body kept there.
