Farmers’ field day programme at Aboi

A Farmers' Field Day programme organised by the department of agriculture was held at Aboi on October 27 to mark the closing programme of the season long IPM Farmers Field School for the year 2008. In his opening remarks D.K. Chetri, SDAO, Aboi said the school served as a platform for the farmers to discuss various issues related to their local field problems whereby the farmers had a unique opportunity to share there experiences in participatory mode thus building their capacity through experiential learning and practical field exercises. The farmers during their feed back said the programme was instrumental in changing their outlook towards agriculture and thanked the department for holding such programme in their area. Shah ang, vice chairman of ad hoc town committee while delivering his speech expressed happiness on the feed back from the farmers and said that knowledge they had gained should be shared among other farmers of the area. Maize shellers and rodenticides were also distributed to the farmers during the programme.
