Five villages under Longching area of Mon district have resolved to boycott the scheduled inauguration of SDO (C) headquarters at Angjangyang on November 12 and to observe a bandh on Saturday (Nov 8) to express resentment over the proposed shifting of EAC and SDO (C) headquarters from Longching to Angjangyang. The five villages earlier in a joint memorandum to the chief minister appealed the latter to cancel the proposed shifting of EAC post, citing inconvenience of the general public of the area. The village council chairmen and others decided to observe November 12 as a black day. Longchang Village Students’ Union in a separate press statement also said the union would observe a bandh in the area Saturday to protest the shifting of EAC post from Longching. The union said it was no opposed to shifting of SDO (C) post but wanted EAC post to remain in Longching. Meanwhile, former RJD candidate Esak-Hussum in a press release alleged that minister for Education Nyeiwang was trying to victimize the public of Longching circle. (Correspondent)
