CM calls for unity and mutual understanding

State chief minister Neiphiu Rio seen with other dignitaries during the inauguration of Angjangyang SDO(C) HQ under Mon district. The CM also inaugurated a new EAC HQ at Chen also in Mon district on Wednesday.

State chief minister, Neiphiu Rio called upon the undergrounds, public and civil societies to shun violence and work in unity for resettlement of Nagas with mutual understanding, respecting each others sentiments and problems. He was speaking at the inauguration of the newly upgraded SDO headquarter of Chen on November 12. He said "undergrounds alone cannot liberate the Nagas and the over grounds alone cannot solve the Naga problems." Rio maintained that Nagas are very small tribe with multi sub-tribes which has further weaken and divided by demarcation of international boundaries between India and Myanmar and the "Sixteen Point Agreement" which was done without the knowledge and concern of the Nagas and he felt to integrate the Nagas politically and religiously under one roof. Expressing serious concern about the Nagas living in Myanmar, he appealed the gathering to impart "education and Christianity" for the uplift of social economic life of the Nagas in Myanmar. Commenting on up gradation without post creation, he said experts were at work planning to create posts for newly upgraded headquarters for which he further appealed the people to extend co-operation to MLAs, officers and government to provide peace and tranquility for further development in the state. MP (Lok Sabha), Wangyuh Konyak thanked chief minister for up gradation and also for showing special concern for the people of Chen by visiting the place for the third time. State minister for school education, Nyeiwang Konyak in his address stressed on unity, peace and development and urged the people to extended full co-operation to the government. Chairman of MARCOFED and DPDB, Mon C .L. John expressed gratitude to chief minister and his cabinet colleagues for up gradation. Konyak Union, president, Khoiwang also lauded DAN government under the leadership of Rio for up gradating three EAC post under Mon district to SDO headquarter within a year. The function was chaired by SDO (C), Mon Hq Orenthung. Chen, EAC, Moatemsu Sangtem tendered vote of thanks. The day long celebration was marked with cultural dance by different groups from Chen and Myanmar and special number by Choknyu Students Union.
