Talent show "Kyong Vontsoniro" held

Parliamentary secretary, irrigation and flood control, geology and mining, border affairs, Y. Patton, Friday urged Lotha community not to cause disunity among the tribe but to merge for "unity for a good cause," so that all round development could be brought about in the region. Addressing the talent show 'Kyong Vontsoniro' as chief guest, Patton lauded the organizers for their initiative in bringing together all talented people of the region under one umbrella. He further urged the talented singers and comedians to develop their talent for the good of the society and appealed them not destroy God given talents, by indulging in bad habits especially drugs and alcohol. Organized by 'Tongphi Chokae Okho' (Union for change) the talent show was held at IMC hall, Dimapu . State commissioner secretary, transport and communication, Mhathung Kithan, who also spoke at the occasion, lauded the efforts made by the organizers. He was of the view that greatest concern for the present generation was disunity among the tribe; the "clanism" that exists and the jealousy that has perverted into the tribe. Quoting Confucius he said, "Even for thousand mile journey, a step has to be taken", and added that a step was taken by the organizers (Tongphi Chokae Okho). Kithan said it was one of the very first steps taken by the tribe to bring everyone into one umbrella. He further requested all section of people to avoid corruption. "We need a change, and for that the present generation needs to take charge and contribute in changing our society," he said. Earlier the programme started with welcome address by Renben Jami, invocation prayer by LBCD pastor, Rev. R.P Murry. Highlight of the programme included unveiling the banner of the 'Tongphi Chokae Okho', wherein the organizers pledged to support the upcoming artists in various fields. The concert cum talent show saw various Lotha music artists and comedians, who left the crowd mesmerized with their beautiful presentation. Chief guest donated Rs.70, 000 to the organizers.
