One Naga officer, serving as engineer in power department was reportedly harassed by Assam police Saturday evening at around 7:30 p.m. while he was returning from Bokajan, after meeting his relatives. An enraged officer told Nagaland Post over the phone and alleged that Assam police conducting frisking between Bokajan and Khatkhati stopped his vehicle and demanded him to produce vehicle documents but even as he produced, the police again demanded "Environment and Pollution Certificate" from him to which he claimed was not aware of such certificates. He further alleged that Assam police, even after producing his service identity card, started questioning his credibility by saying "We don't care Naga engineers and doctors." The matter was settled only after an army personnel intervened, he said. Condemning the harassment meted out to him, the officer said he was particularly hurt for degrading the morale of Naga officers in general. The Assam police could not be contacted till the filing of this report.
