At least two occupants of a vehicle including the driver were injured when the government vehicle they were driving rammed into a 'Gumti shop' near Burma camp junction, Monday around 9 p.m. According to an eyewitness, the speeding government vehicle, a Mahindra Bolero (NL-10-4246), rammed into the pan shop and damaged the shop besides causing injury to the two occupants of the vehicle. While ascribing the accident due to rash and reckless driving, some of the eyewitnesses maintained that such reckless driving should be handled stringently. Another eyewitness was of the view that government officials should not allow their children to drive government vehicles. Meanwhile, the injured driver claimed that he lost control of the vehicle as a truck appeared from the opposite direction without switching on the dipper. The two injured who were rushed to Dimapur civil hospital, were reportedly out of danger.
