50th golden jubilee of Yimchunger Baptist Barubo Amukhongto (YBAA) concluded with a new hope of vision for the generation on Sunday at Shamator town. Renowned speakers from different communities stressed on the importance of churches as a community of hope during the function.
The speakers highlighted the history of Yimchunger Baptist Church (YBC) and its role in restoring 'relationships' with God and people.
Others who spoke at the function included, Kiu's Chuba vice president of Yimchunger Tribal council (YTC), R. Thsanso, ENPO joint secretary, Imkongliba ADC Shamator town, Khevili Zuheto and Kaming president of public forum Shamator.
The jubilee celebration was also marked by cultural exhibition where Imkongliba ADC Shamator town graced as the chief guest.
Exhorting the people of Yimchunger, Imkongliba urged them to preserve culture for the survival of the common people and also lauded YBBA for organizing such programme to march ahead with new hopes of vision.
Altogether 14 villages participated in the cultural exhibition including song and dances with much 'pomp and gaiety'.
Speakers during the celebration included Rev. Zhabu Terhuja, general secretary NBCC, Mary Ann Johnston, president of Mission Possible USA, Rev. O. Alem executive secretary, ABAM and Dr. Kehovi executive secretary SBAK.
Late Onen Lepten and late Kihoto, who were the first field director and evangelist towards the Yimchunger people, was represented by their son and daughter O. Alem and Khevili Zuheto in honour of their late fathers who had contributed towards the people of Yimchunger.
