Dr. Nicky address KCK students

Chairman of Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board, Dr. Nicky Kire on Thursday said Naga students need to get over “Naga division” or third division in their results and that it should be ‘struck off’ from the mindset of the people. Urging students to compete with others in this competitive society, Dr. Nicky said “strive, do your best, and do not leave your lessons for tomorrow.” Speaking as the chief guest at the 42nd Annual Prize Distribution cum parting social of Kohima College Kohima, Dr. Nicky said that college days were a chancy period in students’ life and urged the students to be cautious of drugs, HIV/AIDS, etc. He also said that students’ participation in the college boosts their self confidence. Dr. Nicky further urged the authority to encourage students not only in academics but nurture them according to their talents. He said that educated unemployment problem in the state could lessen if proper career guidance is given to the students and if they study with a purpose and vision. “It is not the enrollment that makes a college but the result it produces”, he added. Lauding the teaching faculty, the chief guest remarked “it is through you that your students have become people of importance. That is the reward teachers get.” Delivering the keynote address, principal of KCK, C. Khalong Ao, said that it was time the students went beyond the horizon in search for excellence, and show to their might to the world. He further said “to face the future, you have to be prepared now.” The programme was marked by distribution of prizes to students by the chief guest, Dr. Nicky Kire. A song was presented by the outgoing students, while short speeches were delivered by Kevisan, Kezhasezo, vice president, KCSU, Kedilhou Yhome, general secretary, KCSU. The programme was chaired by Aien, lecturer, KCK.
