Coming down heavily on the NPF led DAN government for having taken the decision to enhance the government employees retirement age from 57 to 60 years in November 2007 without taking prudent approach or consulting the party involved in the issue, the NPCC has termed the decision as “inherent and usual behaviour” of the DAN/NPF government. NPCC chairman, R. Paphino in a statement said it was “ridiculous” that the chief minister has adopted a blame game by shifting the onus of burden on his officers. Paphino pointed out that the government at the highest level has had several rounds of discussions with the NSF leaders since last year. Therefore the question of laxity or lapses on the part the Government officials does not arise, it said. NPCC asserted that the chief minister instead of pointing fingers at his officers should direct the minister-in-charge to step down immediately. The NPCC further appealed for early resolution of the impasse with good sense and mutual respect.
