Airtel Hornbill Music Fest today

Hornbill Music Festival 2008, presented by Airtel will start today, 5 pm at local ground. The show is organized by the Music Task Force (YRS), Nagaland, while production and events are managed by XL. Dr. Nicky Kire, MLA, Advisor, Music Task Force will give the opening remark and state home minister, Imkong I. Imchen will formally launch the programme. On day one as part of state inauguration day, the festival will be marked by the achiever of 2008 in music. The performance would kick start with performance by Naga Idol 2.07 Ruokuovotuo, beside host of performances by Topeni, winner of solo event in Nagaland Music Safari, Wapang Ozukum, Meribeni, Vesato and Narsen and Naga Idol finalist Inatoli, Kenei, Sheneitia and Mathung. The first-day show will be rounded off by Diatribe and Dementia, winner and first runner-up respectively of the Nagaland Music Safari, 2008. On December 1 and 3, entry would be free. Renowned Indian band Parikrama will perform on December 6 and the grand finale of 'Airtel presents Hornbill National Rock 2008' on December 7. The bands taking part in Hornbill National Rock Contest 2008 are Eximious- Kohima, EOE- Kohima, OFF- Kohima, Melodrama Dimapur, Dementia –Dimapur, Medusa -Mumbai, Maharashtra, 24 X 7 – Pune, Maharashtra, Third Eye - Darjeeling, West Bengal, Nitric Dreams - Kolkata West Bengal, Kaivalyaa - Kolkata, West Bengal, Dark Horizon - Haflong, Assam, Digital Suicide - Guwahati, Assam, Northwind - Tura, Meghalaya, Allatus - Meghalaya, Angelica - Imphal, Manipur, Monopoly Syndrome - Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, Arms of Silence – Aizawl, Mizoram, Alien Gods, Arunachal Pradesh, The Bleeding Note - Assam, Cleave - Manipur, The Verbs- Shillong, Meghalaya and Maestro - Halflong, Assam. Airtel, sponsoring the 1st Prize worth Rs. 5.00 lakhs, has been given the privilege of presenting the event as the "AIRTEL presents Hornbill National Rock Contest 2008" which holds pride of place in the entertainment schedule, commencing on December 4 till the finale slated for December 7. The second prize is worth Rs. 1.5 Lakhs and 3rd Prize Rs. 1.00 Lakhs. Individual prizes for best vocalist, best guitarist, best drummer and best bassist would be Rs 25,000 each. Meanwhile, tickets would be a must from December 4 to 7 fixed at Rs. 30 for gallery, Daily patron at Rs. 300 (Admit two) and Seasoned ticket for Rs.1000 (admit two). (Correspondent)
