US astronaut and commander of International Space Station (ISS) Expedition 18, Mike Fincke said he misses his family in the space. "I miss my beautiful wife," Finckle, who is married to an Indian girl from Assam, said while interacting with students of St. Anthony's College through a telebridge contact between stations NA1SS and WH6PN. The ISS left for its expedition on October 18 together with its other crews from Kazakhstan this year. The space station is carrying out many researches during this period. The students sang a tribal khasi song Ksing Lynti to Mike Fincke after eleven students of the college asked the astronaut several questions relating to space travel. "Khublei Shibun (Thank You in Khasi dialect)," Mike Fincke said enthusiastically after the students sang the song from here at the college's auditorium. Asked to describe about the climate changes, the US born astronaut said he could see from his space station the affects of pollution that climate change was a long gradual process but the affects was visible from the space. On man-made objects visible from space, he said that the Great Wall of China could be seen from the space. To another query on what type of food astronauts eat and drink while in space, Fincke said the crew members took Russian and American food from the refrigerator. "My wife had packed some paneer too," he said. The astronaut also belted out a few lines from Space in Assamese dialect after a student asked him in Assamese how he was and if would like to speak in Assamese. Yesterday's interaction with college students was facilitated by an organisation dubbed Friend of Assam and Seven Sisters with approval from NASA. The radio link between the ISS was establishment from Honolulu, Brussels and relayed to Shillong.
