Hornbill Naga Style Wrestling

The four semi finalists.

Hornbill senior Naga Style Wresting competition began Wednesday infront of the World War-II Museum at the Naga heritage complex Kisama. Altogether, 16 participants including 5 each from the Angami and Zeliang tribes and six from Chakhesang took part in the competition. In the first knock out phase, Diethometuo, Khrieto, Thepfükhoyi and Keyigum emerged as the winners and qualified for the semi finals, which is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) starting from 9.30 am onwards. Earlier, the wrestling competition began with Vevo Phesao, Pastor CBCK(M) pronouncing the invocation prayer while Heirang Lungalang, President NWA administered the oath and K.Puroh, Vice President, WFI formally declaring the tournament opened. Sapi Kin was the chief referee, while Huvesu Puro, Kochuiding, Kikhwesul, Chisazo Dawhuo and Vilieto Miasalhou were the referee cum judge of the competition. On Friday, after the Hornbill senior Naga style wrestling competition, the competition for the 10 years below Naga styled wrestling will resume followed by Naga-Korean wrestling exhibition where three professional Korean wrestlers will be taking part. The winners will be awarded Rs. 30,000, 20,000, 10,000 and 5000 respectively according to their positions.
