OCTAVE-2008 Northeast festival enters day two

OCTAVE – 2008 Northeast festival, which is underway at Patna entered into second day with “North East Traditional Costume Show” organized by North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur. The show was organized to promote traditional dresses and ornaments of different communities of the NE region. Altogether 24 couples from the North East region including three couples each from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura presented their traditional dresses and ornaments of their community during the show. Traditional costumes included multi-colour shawls, spear, ceremonial daos, colourful armlets, bracelets, headgear, armlets, and the like and varied dresses from traditional to contemporary. Traditional costume show was followed by folk dance presentation of eight member States of the Northeast which was an impressive variety of folk dances. One art form each was presented by the member states showcasing their rich cultural heritage through the medium of respective indigenous dance forms.
